Dove II, with an overall length of 63 feet, was drawn from the 1875 Eastport, Maine pilot schooner Dove by noted marine architect Ted Brewer and launched at Camden-Rockport, Maine in 1975. She has been featured in WoodenBoat magazine and is well known on the Maine Coast and Chesapeake Bay. Starting in May 2010, this private schooner has been available for bay and coastal sailing trips by advance reservation.

On her first outing after Cap’n Mike’s major refit 2006-08, she sailed in the largest schooner race anywhere, the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, where she placed 3rd in her fleet and 8th overall of over 50 schooners.

In 2009 and 2010, she finished 4th in her fleet and 8th among the nearly 50 schooners in the Race.

When she isn’t at sea or racing, Dove II homeports at Penobscot Bay, Maine or slips into the Chesapeake Bay .
